In the last post, I revealed that the Solar Power Niche is just about ready to explode in the UK.
It doesn’t matter where you are on the planet, all you need to do is target the UK to take advantage of it.
If you missed that post, you can read it here.
In fact, if you haven’t already, it’s important you read THAT^ post before you read this one.
In this post, I’m going to show you how I would monetize it.
It’s not as hard you think either.
In this post you’ll see:
- What keywords I would target (and why)
- Monetization strategies
- Affiliate products you can sell for commissions.
Keywords I would target
I did a bit of digging inside Ubersuggest for about 30 minutes or so and in that short time I uncovered a few keywords good enough to target.
I started with “Solar Power” as my keyword and targeted the UK.
And while digging I found these 8 Keywords:
In the first column you can see the keywords.
To the right of that, you can see volume and then CPC (Cost Per Click).
As you can see, they all have fairly decent searches with surprisingly low CPC.
One of those Keywords (Solar Powered Water Feature) has 33,000 searches per month with a bid of just $0.22c!! (according to ubersuggest keyword tool).
You can find these on Amazon to promote them as an affiliate.
Some of them are quite expensive too, which means more commissions.
Check these out:
One of them is nearly £2,000 GBP!!
That’s about $2,700 dollars.
And by the way..
And quite bloody shockingly, at the time of checking, the EXACT .com of that domain IS available on namecheap:
(I suspect it won’t be for very long after this blog post goes out to my list).
There you go, I just found you an exact match domain with 33K searches per month that you can go and register right now!! 😉
So that’s one idea.
I find the solar panel keywords in that list more interesting and more monetizable from an affiliate point of view.
The “Solar Power Generator” keyword is also very interesting to me.
You can see that keyword get’s 1,300 searches per month with $0.65c CPC!!
I’m staggered at how wide open this niche actually is.
So that’s the one I’m going to go with in this example.
There are 2 ways we can go with this from an affiliate marketing point of view:
- Digital Products
- Physical Products
Normally I say stay away from Physical products, but due to the potential of this niche, I’m going to explore it.
I prefer digital info products because the profit margins are much higher, so I’m going to see what’s available on clickbank first.
If you go to https://clickbank.com/marketplace
You’ll see this sidebar on the left handside:
Click > Green Products > Alternative Energy
Immediately I see 2 products that look good:
I go into detail about how to choose profitable Clickbank products to promote inside a few of my training products.
But for now, these 2 look good.
They both have decent Gravity, enough to make sales, but still low enough that you’re not competing with every other affiliate and his dog scrambling for sales.
Both of them have good Avg/Sale (Average Sale) commission.
They both have affiliates tools pages too.
So at this point, it doesn’t really matter which one I choose here, they are both good.
I’m going to go with the bottom Easy Power Plan product.
The reason for that is:
- It has a slighter higher Avg Sale Commission
- The gravity is a bit lower, but good enough and less competition
- There is more scope and opportunity, since it has a DIY angle.
Those that are interested in a Solar Power are generally interested in self sufficiency, so this would be a very enticing affiliate product to show them.
This is the sales page and as you can see it’s a Video Sales Letter (VSL).
You wouldn’t be able to use this page for PPC (Google).
Google won’t allow straight up VSL’s like this, unless you put a presell optin page in front of it.
(Yes, despite what people say, optin (or squeeze) pages ARE allowed if you build them a certain way.
Monetization Strategy #1
PPC Ads > Optin page > VSL > Email Follow up
For Google Ads, you’ll need to create a high quality content optin page which asks the visitor to optin to receive the free video.
After they optin they get the free video PLUS an email follow up series directing those that haven’t purchased back to the VSL.
The follow up series would be spread out over 3 – 7 days.
Here’s some ideas for affiliate emails:
“How To Power Your House With Solar Energy”
“X Steps to install your own Solar Energy System”
“X Benefits Of Solar Power”
You get the idea.
You can use Ubersuggest or AnswerThePublic (I love this one for a TON of email ideas.
I show you how to do all of this inside my Automated Income Assets program.
Monetization Strategy #2
PPC Ads > Text Sales Page (No optin)
This method is a bit risky, so you do this at your own risk if you’re going to use Google Search Ads.
If you prefer this method which is a lot simpler, then I recommend you use Microsoft Ads, they’re a lot more lenient and generally don’t mind this approach. (I talk more about Microsoft Ads here).
This is the TEXT sales page version of the SAME product:
This approach is pretty simple.
You’re simply sending traffic to this sales page.
And if they buy, you get a commission.
If they don’t buy, you don’t.
The advantage of this set-up is you don’t need to worry about list building.
I ran a model like this for 3 years before I started building a list.
BIG MISTAKE!
Whilst this system is simple, it’s not the most profitable.
The most profitable way to do ANYTHING whether that’s for your own product or an affiliate is always to build a list.
Taking this method up a notch…
Here’s the thing…and not many affiliates do this..
EVEN though you’re not building an email list, you can still build an audience that you can remarket to later.
You can still do this even as an affiliate with no access to the vendors funnel.
You can retarget someone who CLICKED your affiliate link and build an audience that way.
Link retargeting is a fairly new concept that takes retargeting to another level.
It works like this:
People who click a short link you share ANYWHERE can be shown retargeted ads.
What’s different is the linked content doesn’t have to be content that you personally own.
AKA Affiliate sales pages.
You can do this with Clickmagick which I’ve used for years.
Physical Products
I had a quick look on Amazon UK
(remember you can be anywhere in the world but you MUST target the UK for all the reasons I mention in this post)
These are some of the products I found, they’re pretty bloody expensive, which is another reason to target the UK.
In the UK everything is more expensive than anywhere else, which means decent commissions for physical products, if you choose to go the physical route.
Monetization Method For Physical Products
Affiliate Authority Review Site
This is where you review all the major Solar Power Generators and give them a rating and link to each one with your affiliate links.
Here’s an example of an affiliate review site for Web Hosting so you can see the sort of thing I’m talking about:
You could do a site like this and swap it for Solar Power Generators instead.
You get the idea.
I know a few Affiliates doing this.
Some drive traffic with PPC (Google are fine with sites like this).
Here’s a Google Ad for that exact site running right now:
Just model this for Solar Power Generators!
“10 Best Solar Power Generators”
etc..etc..
You see where I’m going with this, and I’ve already shown you earlier in this blog post that the clicks are DIRT cheap for this.
I’ve seen other affiliates drive traffic with SEO by ranking highly in the search engines.
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is a slow method and takes serious time investment.
So as you can see, the Alternative Energy Niche is still wide open if you target the UK, you can get cheap clicks and it’s an erupting market.
I highly recommend you take advantage of it!
