Once I had a nightmare about Elon Musk.
If you’re a Facebook Friend (if not add me), you probably saw my post about it.
It was weird.
If you have no idea who Elon Musk is, he’s the guy who owns Tesla and SpaceX.
An insanely successful guy.
But he’s a bit of a weirdo with some “interesting” views on life.
(I won’t get into what those are here, but Google him far enough and you’ll see what I mean.)
For no reason at all (other than that Elon flat out spooks me) I dreamt he was trying to force my door down with a Hydraulic Press…
I was stood on the other side trying to hold the door shut.
Then he just walked off.
And then I woke up.
Like say…Weird.
Here’s the point…
Elon is somebody I follow, even though he creeps me out, he’s got a SUPER sharp mind.
Turns out, you can learn quite a bit from successful strange people.
Here’s 3 things I read on Twitter about him and some of his better core beliefs:
1. Love What You Do.
Become fully immersed in what you do.
For me it’s Affiliate Marketing and teaching people what I do.
It’s what I get up for every single day.
The day I feel I have nothing to offer, I’ll pack up and quit.
Elon’s Mantra is:
“Nothing is going to be given to you, you have to go out and get it!”
All those 10 minute ‘Push button” riches you keep reading about?
It doesn’t exist.
You have to make it happen.
2. Focus On The RIGHT Stuff.
There are waaaay to many distractions in life and that goes double for the IM circle jerk swamp.
You’ll be pulled down many different directions.
You’ll be promised to have “Your hand held and be shown every step of the way” only to be shafted and pumped with the latest guru ‘pump and dump’ $1,997 product.
What I’m trying to say here is, don’t waste your life living someone else’s dream.
Focus on what’s right for you and only focus on ONE thing at a time.
I’ve got a picture on my wall.
Well it’s not really a picture, it’s more a printout of one of my favourite phrases:
“Will it make the boat go faster?”
This is it here in my office:
I’ve lived by this mantra since about 2016.
It’s literally stuck to my wall with tape.
What that really means is, if something does NOT move me further to my goal, I toss it out.
I don’t focus on that.
You should only focus on the things that move you closer to your goals.
Whether that’s in life or business.
Block out the IM noise and focus on what’s important.
This brings me to the next lesson from Elon Musk…
3. Choose Who You Listen To CAREFULLY
This one is pretty much key to everything.
In IM especially, it’s blind leading the blind…
You might have heard the expression:
“In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king”
Or something like that.
Choose people who OFFER you value and move you closer to your goals.
Ignore EVERYONE else.
It’s just noise and clutter.
That goes for me too if you feel I’m not moving you closer towards your goals or helping you.
Here’s another expression I really like:
“The loudest man in the room, is the weakest man in the room”.
Often, the BS’ers are often the ones shouting the loudest.
They’re shouting the loudest because that’s all they’ve got.
The problem is these types have one goal in mind: to sell you on a high ticket product that doesn’t provide the actual insight you need.
Instead they run (questionable at best, downright shady at worst) marketing campaigns with tactics to bypass your rational thinking and trigger an emotional response to purchase.
So I’m going to tie this off with one last thought from my buddy George:
You’re not successful when you make money.
You make money when you’re successful.
It’s like the guy who sat in front of the fireplace and said “give me heat – and then I’ll add wood”.
Doesn’t work that way.
You first add Wood and then get Fire.
It’s the same thing with success!
Keep going!
Ben.
